The Best Ever!

If you're a skeptic like me, your spidey-sense goes off when someone says "It was the best ever." Let's be real. Human memory and experience are limited to our own perception and memory, so what may be the "Best Ever" is only as good as yesterday.

Having said that, today was the best ride ever!

Finally did some class work and found we needed office supplies from Office Depot, so Dollar and I hit the road. The weather was glorious and there was a moderate to strong headwind coming from the south. Down Richmond, east on Fifth, south on Division, east on Tenth, and south on Curry. This road is an adventure because it's narrow on a blind curve at one point, and has a long gentle incline and a couple of good hills (for me). I took the first hill, the curve, and incline with no problem, but the second hill near Koontz just about did me in. Remembering the King's Canyon ride, I gutted it out for as long as possible, but there was more hill than Bob. I stopped and rested for a minute, then managed to get going without much problem.

Stopped and rested again at the south Albertsons on Clearview, then headed down Carson. I cranked the bike up as far as possible and rocked from Clearview to Koontz. I cut through the Toyota parking lot and kept rocking down Frontage Road until Office Depot, where I remembered I had a prescription waiting at the north Albertsons. Dollar and I went through the Carson Mall, up Plaza, through the Capitol Complex (where we ignored the 'No Biking' signs), crossed Carson at Telegraph, and traveled North Curry. We turned left at Washington, right on Division, right on Long, up Carson to the north Albertsons. Got the scrip, some fluids and a Snickers bar, and headed home via Carson, Bath, Division, Fleischmann, and Mountain.

As I write and read this, I'm kinda of amazed at the distances and speeds because I know I set some personal bests today, but they don't go in the Bike Journal because the stinking bike computer still doesn't work. I tried to wear a heart monitor and found it doesn't work, either. Starting to look like small electronic devices don't like Bob the Blob.

I'm whupped. It's naptime.

ps: The duck picture is from PostSecret. It's worth a few minutes of your time.
